Key tasks and responsibilities

As our new Branch Manager UK, you are responsible for translating our global strategy to a successful approach for the UK horticultural market and organisation. Together with the Commercial Director Europe and your local team (± 20 FTE), you will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring a winning sales strategy and operational plan. And for building a winning team.

This also means the following key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a playbook for the UK horticultural market with the aim of doubling turnover in the next couple of years. The playbook includes among others: a fact based product market segmentation, an accompanying sales & marketing approach and operational plan, a multi-year budget and a future proof organisational structure. Also manage the budget by reviewing financial statements, sales reports, activity reports and other performance data and acting accordingly. Monitor and ensure compliance with statutory regulations and company policies.
  • Initiate, coordinate and execute business activities concerning the pricing, sales and distribution of the Industry's leading Horticultural products & services. Drive continuous improvement to ensure consistent quality and yield to meet the demands of the UK horticultural market. Build and sustain good personal relationship to top customers and other relevant industry partners as greenhouse builders, seed companies, nurseries, authorities and horticultural press.
  • Manage all operational activities to achieve company objectives, including purchase, logistics, inventory, overall finance, housing, staffing, etc. Ensure the evaluation and continuous improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of all sales and operational processes. Align with fellow branch managers, with product management, purchase, Finance, HR and other specialists at HQ to share knowledge and find the best synergy. 
  • Build a professional and inspiring working environment by nurturing the strong current team and develop the team further in line with the organisation’s growth ambitions. Take a leading role in the recruitment, training, coaching and performance management of individual employees.

Candidate profile

Are you the suitable candidate, because you:

  • are a connecting leader who gets the best out of the market, the organisation and the team;
  • have at least 5 to 10 years relevant working experience as a sales and team oriented general manager;
  • speak the language of a hard-working, hands on and no nonsense medium-sized organisation who thinks global and act local;
  • have a strong affinity with the horticultural industry and with trade companies; experience and network in the industry is an advantage;
  • have the following specific (leadership) skills and competences:  strategic leadership and change management, entrepreneurship, team player/builder, result driven with a customer-oriented approach, impact by initiative, decisiveness and persuasiveness, team development and coaching, strong organiser and problem-solving ability, analytical and (financial) planning & control, good communicator and smart stakeholder management.

Workplace and reporting line

You will be located in our branch in Beverley, UK. You will report directly to the Commercial Manager Europe working at the Head Office in ‘s-Gravenzande, The Netherlands.
